OpenAFS is really nice free distributed file system. Here I provide some documentation and scripts for dealing with openafs. For comments etc. about these packages, email: help-openafs armiento.net.

I recently had the task of setting up a new openafs system from scratch and was a bit surprised that I couldn't find any one specific comprehensive guide for this task; rather I had to paste together instructions from several sources. So, to help others, I have composed a documentation package for installing a new MIT kerberos 5 based openafs
system.

Some selected info from README-FIRST.txt in the archive:
ABOUT THIS PACKAGE
This package gives information on what I belive is "recommended practices" for installing
a "pure" MIT kerberos 5 authenticated openafs setup from scratch with *no* support of legacy
services. This means:
- no 'kerberos 4' protocol involved in obtaining AFS access etc.
- no info about actions for transfering existing 'kerberos 4' AFS configurations.
To help you get started, the package also gives some basic information on AFS usage in a
"simplified setup" in the AFS-QUICK-USERS-GUIDE.txt.
