The miniBB bulletin board system is really nice. It is simple to setup, and the code is easy to modify. And the default graphical look is very clean and nice. A free (GPL) addon for the miniBB bulletin board system to enable people to post LaTeX equations in the forums. Very convinient for deeply technical discussions :). It uses the very nice mimetex.cgi component (which you have to have installed on your server).

This file describes how to modify the forum system miniBB to add a new bbcode [tex] that uses mimetex.cgi
to render LaTeX equations and images. You also get an "equation" button in the post edit form that works similar to
the bold, italics, etc. buttons. When pushing this button you get a popup window where you can enter
code for your LaTeX equation.

This file describes how to modify the forum system miniBB to add a new bbcode [code] that makes it possible
to post segements that shows in a proportional font and preserves whitespace and avoids bb-code and smiley
replacement. (Basically, it is a variant of the "PREFORMATTED TEXT solution" written by Sergei Larionov
(minibb.net) but with the addition of avoiding smiley and bb-code replacement just inside the preformatted
segment.) This is thus very suitable for posting e.g. indented code segments, and ascii art.
